Mahesh Allam

Mahesh G Allam MD is an Internist with additional training in Pulmonary Disorders, Critical Care, and Sleep Disorders.

A graduate of UWI medical school (Mona), Jamaica, Dr. Allam completed an internship at Port of Spain General Hospital in 1985-1987. Following a two-year training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics & Urology, OB/GYN and Pediatrics and Community Health with Psychiatry. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Howard University Hospital and D.C. General Hospital in Washington D.C. in 1988-1991. He accomplished Chief Resident of the Department of Medicine in 1991. He trained in thyroid disorders under Dr. Leonard Wartofsky, a world-renowned endocrinologist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care under Dr. O D Polk and Dr. Alvin Thomas at Howard University Hospital Sleep disorders and Sleep apnea at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center under Dr. Phillip ‘Flip’ Smith 1991-1993.

Dr. Allam made the decision to move with his family to Winter Haven, FL in 1993. It was this same year that he established Medical Associates of Central Florida. For twenty-three years Dr. Allam has worked in a hospital setting, providing care in the ICU and Pulmonary Consultant support. In 2016, he converted to full time in out -patient services and managing chronic disease/ preventive care, with expertise in population health management. His wife, Tania Allam, is a Chemical Engineer and is currently the Business Manager at Medical Associates of Central Florida. His two daughters are also in healthcare. Shalini Allam is an Internist at Georgetown Hospital and Nikhita Allam is training in Healthcare Data Analytics at University College of London.
